Future Hack brings together innovators to tackle society’s biggest challenges

Future Hack is the bridge that will take us from the first phase of Creating our Future, which involved the generation of hundreds of ideas from housing associations, to the next phase, when we’ll come together to turn those ideas into real prototypes.

We’re going to have an incredible three days, with teams of people from over 40 housing associations taking part. They’ll take some of the ideas generated during our Ideas Labs and turn them into built out concepts ready to be presented to our expert panel at the end of the final day. Over the three days, teams will learn valuable techniques for how to create a prototype as well as engage with experts such as Neil Stott, Director of the Centre for Social Innovation at Cambridge University, Big Society Capital Chief Executive Cliff Prior, National Housing Federation Chief Executive David Orr, HACT Deputy Chief Executive Rob Wray, and Professor Suzanne Fitzpatrick a leading academic in homelessness from Herriot Watt University.

The agenda is inspiring and exciting, with brilliant speakers such as Belinda Bell, Programme Director for Cambridge Social Ventures – Cambridge University’s social innovation incubator –  who will talk about the world of social innovation, and James Eder, founder of Student Beans, who will discuss his experiences as an entrepreneur and the lessons he learned from his early failures. Our expert panel also includes the Co-founder and Director of We Are Cast, the Centre for Acceleration of Social Technology.

Future Hack is bigger than the four walls of the event itself. It’s the moment we bring together representatives from across the housing sector to tackle some of the nation’s biggest social challenges. It is the first event of its kind and we hope you’ll join us by following #creatingourfuture. We’ll be livestreaming the talks on Periscope and sharing insights and images on Twitter and Instagram.
