He was brought up in Gahanna, Ohio and at the age of 17, he relocated to New York.

Mike was an infant when he was adopted by a family with a real estate business.

His adoptive parents Julia and Kurt Faist are of German descent.

Faist met his birth mom for the first time since he was adopted at the age of 17. He once stated in an interview that, his mother’s side of the family are mostly pilots by profession.

The first stage production that he appeared in was for The Wizard of Oz.

He played the originating character of Connor Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen that earned him a nomination for a Tony Award and won a shared Grammy Award. He also originated the character of Morris Delancey in Newsies that airs on Disney.
